“There is a staggering number of animals put down each year. We would like to see this prevented. We want to curb the overpopulation of unwanted animals and we do a good job in our county compared to the national figures.”
“We bought portraits and blazers for each of the champs. I remember Bill asking me how we were going to pay for that. We decided to raise the sponsor fees for the bowlers from $50 to $100. That paid for the blazers.”
“Once we decided to go with the blazers, we wanted a color. I seem to remember a hunter green that was particularly attractive, so we bought seven green blazers.”
“We give out more certificates than are used. One of the reasons is that some people don't get around to making the appointment for their animal. The certificates are good until March 31, but that does not mean the coupons have to be used by then. The appointment just has to be made by that date. We have vets doing the surgeries in April, May and sometimes as late as June because they get so overwhelmed with appointments after Spay Day.”
